Backing up a first release is always pretty daunting, which is why it was a great relief when we bagged Favored Nations for JC002. When I first heard lead track 'Amazon', the fast paced drums with locked in bassline were an immediate catch, but the real game-changer was the entrance of that guitar riff. Lashings of old Bloc Party with a healthy dose of originality lead perfectly into singer Morgan Phalens' distinctive vocals. Next up is slow-burner 'That's Not Who We Are', a downtempo acoustic guitar vibe accompanied by sample heavy drums and an infectious vibe. To round out the E.P is a tune you would be familiar with if if you happened to burn a couple hundred hours of your life playing GTA V... chances are you heard Favored Nations tune 'The Setup'.
