New PC
The ‘New PC’ CD from Scotland’s Flowers For Algernon is a blend of soaring melodies, ‘60s lyrical innocence and a New Wave attitude; the ingredients of the group’s unique sound. The CD features four of the band’s original songs – the poppy ‘New PC’, the summery ‘Optimism’, the punky ‘Bus Stop’ and the atmospheric ‘Weekend Woman’.
The band take their name from the novella by Daniel Keyes about a mouse and a human who, in parallel, became flawed geniuses. Could the band be flawed geniuses? Maybe, but they’re happy to let you decide that!
James Igoe (vocals/guitar), Nelson Wright (guitar/harmonica/djembe) and Fiona Thom (guitar/vocals) write the band’s songs, individually and collectively. Lindsay Sugden (bass) and Nick Rowell (keyboards) complete the Flowers’ line up.
Flowers For Algernon have won awards at the Edinburgh-based Acoustic Idols in 2004 and 2005, played several shows during the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and recorded acclaimed sessions for local stations Festival FM and Leith FM.
