Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Rabbit, born Rashad Williams, has seen some of the best the city has to offer: Mardi Gras, Canal Street, and styles of music that are unique to the Crescent City, all of which help define the culture. But along with the highs must come the lows. New Orleans has been known as the murder capital and Rabbit grew up when crimes were at an all time high. Murders and gunshots were in the news on a regular basis. In growing up, Rabbit has also been stopped by police numerous times for “fitting the description” or “looking suspicious”. There were plenty of wrongs and even at a young age Rabbit was socially conscious. At 13, Rabbit recorded his first song and put together a short mixtape (5 tracks). Soon after, he began using music arrangement software and made a few beats. Afterwards he did not write songs until after he graduated from Grace King High School. Determined not to be caught in the mayhem and distractions of the city streets and to broaden his horizon, Rabbit left for Lafayette to attend college. Here he learned about bills and what it really meant to not have money. In addition, in the trips he made home to New Orleans from Lafayette, Rabbit also learned of the deaths of a number of friends and acquaintances from High School and of some friends that turned to enemies. Finally, the songs about being broke and struggling started making real sense. At this point in his life, Rabbit started taking music seriously and decided to change his style of rapping from punch line flows to more of a story telling style. Rabbit narrates his life in his songs such as “Cold Outside” in addition to being an entertainer with tracks such as “Hypnotic”. On mixtapes He shows a lighter side with tracks “The Clap” and “Hey Boo Boo” in addition to original tracks and remixes to popular songs. After releasing his 4th mixtape (CLEW The Mixtape Vol.1) Rabbit got into production. In July 2007, at age 20, Rabbit started his own record label CLEW (Cloud Level in Every Way) Music. He pulled in some of the artists that he originally recorded with and some new faces that shared the same vision including rappers, singers, and musicians with skills that didn’t have a musical home. He was the first artist to release and album under the label, titled “Guilty Until Proven Innocent” in which he served as the lead producer, executive producer, engineer, and lead artist.
