Everyday
Luke Axelby is a Melbourne based singer/songwriter currently working on his debut indie release - "Everyday". His band - 'L.A Band' have been working hard around Victoria for the past few years with a view to shaking up the music scene with a little country rock. “I’m really influenced by both country and 60’s singer songwriters, so I suppose there’s an element of folk in there as well. I can’t say I’ve deliberately tried to make pop music or music that appeals to people. I just write what I feel.” With a multitude of influences including Folk, Rock, Country and progressive Alt. Country, the band hopes to take their profile to the next level with the release of the new album. After finally scraping together the cash to record, there’s genuine excitement brewing around its impending release. "We have always been enjoyed at gigs but were always unable to back that up with a release that was close to our live show. Hopefully this will take us one step closer" says Luke. Keen to record surrounded by friends, Axelby roped in former classmates Fabrizio Georgio (drums) and Ryan Di Cecco (bass) from Melbourne rock outfit Skarlet Blue who were fresh from touring with Diesel and about to take off with Airbourne. Luke Postill (Red Riders, Dardanelles) also jumped on board as an engineer and mixing duties fell to another ex-classmate Dave Strangio. A perfectionist, Axelby culled four songs from the original tracklisting and replaced them with stronger songs. On a whole there’s plenty of beguiling tracks to take you on a journey through his soul. ‘Run’ harks back to John Mellencamp something Axelby says was intentional during writing, but upon further listens, has parallels with the new country of Keith Urban. It’s a country rock out song sure to have you toe tapping your way out of your little world and into a bigger one. ‘We Will Miss You When You’re Gone’, is a truly family affair, with backing vocals provided by Axelby’s nearest and dearest. This catchy sing-a-long is a sure fire hit, the chorus will stay with you long after you’ve heard it! 2010 is shaping up to be L.A Band’s biggest yet with a tour in the works to compliment the debut release.
