Descent
Stone Driver is an original alternative rock band based in Washington DC, with Chad Lesch, Tim Boyer, John Gossart, and Dan Epley. Stone Driver sums up the best of our collective experiences to create a truly original group; we pull from a large diversity of musical influences and styles, from Pink Floyd to Alice in Chains, blues rock to bluegrass, to create what we think is meaningful, relevant, and real, music. Chad Lesch brings a wealth of electric lead guitar experience to the table, having strong musical roots tied to blues legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and T-Bone Walker, but combines that mojo with strong atmospheric and "space rock" influences like Pink Floyd and Oresund Space Collective to provide additional dimensions to his sound and playing. Chad is constantly experimenting and pushing the envelope of what an electric guitar rig can sound like to create unique tonal experiences for the audience. Tim Boyer anchors the rhythm on bass guitar, drawing upon many years of experience with bands in the DC music scene and around the country. With influences from all over the musical spectrum, Tim lays down bass lines with a tasteful groove that stay in your head long after the song is over. From heavy and melodic to funky and offbeat, Tim handles the low end with deft for Stone Driver. John Gossart's unique voice and driving acoustic guitar round out the band's eclectic sound. A veteran of the 90's Boston music scene, John weaves a jagged vocal around a clean guitar and a big stage presence. Though influences from folk to punk to rock are evident in his songwriting and playing style, his sound is uniquely Stone Driver. Dan Epley is a veteran of the Northwest music scene. Sharing the stage with bands ranging from Everclear to Radiohead, Dan brings a mix of power and precision to the band. His hard hitting style and experience offer an added dimension to the already strong musical core of Stone Driver. Stone Driver has also been lucky to collaborate with other talented musicians such as NYC session drummer extraordinaire Andrew Kendris (www.andrewkendris.com), Kevin Fahy, Rich Whitcomb, and Ian Greening. Stone Driver has no molds or marketing images we are attempting to fill, just to make the best music we possibly can, and to share that experience with you.
