Live At Montreux 2013
Texan blues-rockers ZZ Top have announced the July 22 release of ‘Live At Montreux 2013′ on DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats. It will be the group’s first home video release since 2008′s ‘Live From Texas’ DVD. Aside from the expected hits including ‘Gimme All Your Lovin’,’ ‘Legs,’ ‘La Grange,’ and ‘Tush,’ a pair of tracks — ‘I Gotsta Get Paid’ and ‘Chartreuse’ — from the group’s acclaimed 2012 album ‘La Futura‘ are also included. ZZ Top’s 2013 performance at Montreux was notable as it was the first time that the core trio of vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard performed as a quintet. The group welcomed musical guests Mike Flanigin and Van Wilks on stage to help pay tribute to Montreux festival founder Claude Nobs, who had passed away in January 2013. With an unchanged line-up stretching back to 1969 and global album sales in excess of 50 million, ZZ Top continue to delight fans around the world with brilliant live concerts and great music. The band has made a number of visits to Montreux over the years and this concert from the 2013 Festival is undoubtedly one of their finest live performances. The set list blends tracks from early seventies albums such as 'Tres Hombres' and 'Fandango' through their eighties blockbuster period with Eliminator and Afterburner and up to their most recent release and return to their blues roots with 'La Futura'. The middle section of the concert features a jazz-blues tribute to the late Montreux Festival founder Claude Nobs with guest appearances by Mike Flanigin on Hammond Organ and Van Wilks on guitar. ZZ Top, the 'lil' ol' band from Texas , are rocking the blues as strongly as ever!
