Red Blooded Woman

Red Blooded Woman

"Red Blooded Woman" is a song by Australian recording artist and songwriter Kylie Minogue, taken from her ninth studio album Body Language (2003). The song is written by British songwriters Johnny Douglas and Karen Poole, and is also produced by both Douglas and Poole. The song was released in March 2004 worldwide, including the United States, as the second single off the studio album. Along with the album musically, "Red Blooded Woman" is a Hip-Hop and R&B inspired song, with some electronic production within the song. Lyrically, the song talks about sexual empowerment. "Red Blooded Woman" received mixed reviews from most contemporary music critics: some enjoyed the song and deemed it as a highlight; however, some felt the musical change towards R&B and Hip-Hop was a problem. Commercially, the song was a success. The song peaked inside the top ten in countries including Hungary, Australia, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Italy and the United Kingdom and in most countries peaked inside the top forty, and had resulted in a certification in New Zealand, where it was certified gold. An accompanying music video was released, which featured Minogue in Los Angeles walking through a traffic jam, and dancing to the song. The song was featured on three of Minogue's concert tours, and was even featured in the Australian TV series Kath & Kim, in which Minogue also had a cameo appearance.
