Zal
The Polish word “żAL” signifies: melancholic longing, a sense of nostalgia and emotional yearning. Mrs. Kupiec has decided on this title for her latest CD, because the word embodies an indescribable, untranslatable expression and feeling to the Polish soul. Of which, she states, best encompasses Chopin and Schubert’s musical language in general, and in particular, the inspired, mature compositions recorded on this double disk CD. Kupiec’s performance is in itself the quintessence of żAL; personal, passionate, imbued with sensitivity and yearning, and with focused care for detail and nuance; making this release a landmark of expressivity, musical individuality and pianistic perfectionism.
